New FreightPro line of trailers from Wabash

Wabash National
Wabash National’s new FreightPro line of dry vans, unveiled at the Mid America Trucking Show this week, come with standard features like air ride suspension, premium brakes, and Wabash’s corrosion-resistant DuraPlate doors.

A high strength nose design feature includes16 ga./80,000 psi steel posts in nose-prevent buckling; .050-inch aluminum corners with a 5-inch radius; extruded aluminum front base rail and aluminum interior gutter to prevent moisture. The rear frame is powder-coated and a non-slip bumper provides increased safety.

The sidewalls are .050-inches of white aluminum; a standard logistics track on 24-inch centres provide fast load fastening; and an 18 ga./80,000 psi steel scuff provides 12-inches of lower protection.

FreightPro also features DuraPlate swing doors made of a composite polyethylene plastic core bonded between two sheets of galvanized steel. The design eliminates plywood and skin deterioration associated with some designs; protects against moisture absorption, extending life of fasteners and hardware; resists scrapes and punctures; and a dual-durometer, perimeter gasket system allows for simpler repairs.

The floor system is a full 1 3/8-inches thick, laminated oak. A standard full-width, 10 ga./12-inch diamond threshold plate with recessed fasteners protects floor area, while patented aluminum extruded floor seal provides routing space for airlines and electrical components on both sides of the trailer. A bolted crossmember attachment creates a strong structural connection from the floor to sidewall.

The trailer also includes an MBS-1P ABS system. The modulation unit is mounted on the front suspension for easy access. The system also employs conventional relay valve for lowest maintenance cost, while built-in quick exhaust valve speeds brake release response time and removes exhaust contaminants from the brake line.
